Authenticate the sending domain

Configure the sender authentication records required by your email provider and use an address on a domain you control. Follow the provider's current instructions for SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.

Keep the visible sender name and reply address recognizable. A trustworthy sender identity helps people understand why the email arrived.

Make messages useful on every device

Put the purpose in the subject and make the next action easy to find. Include the essential information in the message instead of relying on a remote image to explain it.

Use semantic, responsive email markup and provide a plain-text version. Test links, dark mode, and long names in a few common email clients.

Observe delivery and retries

Record message IDs and delivery events without logging sensitive message content. Make retries safe so a temporary provider error does not send duplicate receipts.

Provide an in-app fallback for critical account information and a support path for people who do not receive a message.
